Arjun Srivatsa Taka’s Theory has a certain weight; thick air accumulates into a heavy, cavernous atmosphere, punctured by sharp percussion. The record represents the New York-based artist’s attempt to explore various types of electronic music like IDM and ambient, and while his instruments may be inorganic, they embody characteristics of living creatures: Snares chirp like fluttering beings on “1002” and kicks growl their way from ear to ear on “access granted.” The record feels like an ecosystem.

Theory is, in a way, a compilation of my initial attempts at different approaches to electronic music. I had spent a lot of 2021 collecting and researching relatively ambient electronic music, gaining more inspiration every album I played. I honed in and filtered my music inquiries to vague terms like "experimental ambient glitch" and discovered some of my now frequented labels like Morr Music, Raster-Noton, ~scape and Mille Plateaux. With all this music in mind, I tried to be my own version of my favorite songs. This project is just the first layer. Hopefully by the next release, I will have delved deeper and refined the sound. Enjoy
